We've Come Back From Always
is the overarching title of an episodic narrative unfolding in the form of sculptures, audio, video works and performances. The series explores themes of trans-generational knowledge, women's mythologies and the multifaceted nature of reclaiming names and narratives. The title is taken from The Laugh of Medusa
by Hélène Cixous and echoes the project's attempts to evoke ever-present, yet previously unheard, voices for the sake of multiplicity within history and recitation. Throughout the episodes, a reoccurring eagle character is placed into various scenarios exploring the blurred boundaries between predator, pet and prey. Furthermore the series follows up on Cixous' idea of myths' capacity to mobilise women against each other, with an acknowledgement of and exploration into the moral ambiguity of its female characters.
